These are official ECB/TCMB reference rates, not remittance transaction rates — the rate you actually get includes the operator's spread and fees. This page measures market timing only and recommends no provider.

Methodology & sources
- Source: ECB euro foreign exchange reference rates (daily, 14:15 CET), collected via Frankfurter API and cross-checked against the official ECB Data Portal CSV (data.ecb.europa.eu). Collection route this build: frankfurter (cross-checked vs ECB official CSV) (max deviation between the two routes on the last 20 common dates: 0.00776%). The official ECB CSV fallback is wired into the collector itself — if the primary route drops, the page rebuilds from data.ecb.europa.eu directly.
- USD-based quotes are derived from the ECB's EUR-based fixings as (currency per EUR) ÷ (USD per EUR).
- Reference rates are indicative market fixings published once per business day. They are NOT transaction rates: remittance operators apply their own spread and fees on top. No forecast is made and no provider is recommended.
- Monthly Timing Cost = (best day − worst day) ÷ worst day × 100 within a calendar month — the extra destination currency received by converting on the best vs the worst day. Only complete calendar months with ≥10 daily fixings are published.
- Realized volatility = sample standard deviation of daily log-returns over the last 30 calendar days, annualized (×√252).
- GCC Remittance Timing Index = unweighted mean of the monthly Timing Costs of the two workhorse destination currencies of the Gulf's pegged corridors (INR and PHP). TRY is tracked alongside but kept out of the Index (Türkiye is not a pegged GCC sender).
- Because AED, QAR, OMR and SAR are all hard-pegged to the USD, every pegged GCC corridor to a given destination shares the SAME underlying timing profile — this page publishes the cross-destination comparison once, instead of repeating identical numbers per country. Country pages add their local angle (payday windows, corridor focus), not different arithmetic.
- Kuwait is excluded: the dinar is pegged to an undisclosed currency basket, so no USD-derived corridor rate would be honest.
